Sketch of "Kovsch of the Lady Moscow". Inspired by the 19th century Russian metal work and cloisonné enamel details.
In the last two years I've been used as a hair model for Toronto's Vidal Sassoon (the only Vidal Sassoon in all of Canada). Recently Vidal Sassoon launched the Dada Dolls collection, inspired by Dadaism. They used me as a hair model for the collection and I got to hear from the experts what it was all about. The sketches you see here have been inspired by that collection, using the many textures from bone straight hair to sections of hair that is permed and the construction of disconnection of the hair; all constructed to each and every persons facial bone structures.
Hair has played a lot in my experience when I draw and paint, as I have worked with many experienced hair dressers of Aveda, L'Oreal, Wella and Sebastian products. The methods of cutting hair is so fascinating, hair is fashion, it tells me what's to come, it will never go out of style as things always seem to come back!
The 6 sketches you see for Modern 60's hair is inspired by a past experience in the late 80's when I got my first haircut when visiting Greece.
